In "Twitter time", 2007 does seem like centuries ago, back before the celebrities got onto Twitter, before Twitter became the hottest thing on planet earth.

San Diego fires must be one of the earliest times that Twitter played a key role in breaking news.  Now we take that function pretty much for granted, from the Sichuan earthquake to the most recent Jakarta bombing.

2007 was probably the time when people first woke up to the fact that Twitter can be 'useful" and not just a silly, banal micro-blogging service.
